Una selección de dibujos de Fernando Renes (Covarrubias, 1970). En sus dibujos encontramos objetos y situaciones de una belleza cercana al kitsch, pero que han sido perturbados por el humor y lo escatológico, reivindicando los instintos más primitivos y carnales.
En la edición de este libro han colaborado Injuve, CAB, Musac, galería Distrito4 y Diputación Foral de Bizkaia.

Born in Burgos (Spain) and living in New York, Fernando Renes has been immersed in and devoted to the world of drawing and the imagination, at least since early 2000. He is one of those artists who consciously broke with, or disregarded, the reigning artistic style of his time - "politically engaged" and ''confessional'' artists.
His drawings, mostly watercolors, are either too opaque or too simple, obtuse or inconclusive, obvious, impenetrable or uneventful, but there's never mystery about them. They are what they are. There's no "beyond what you look at." The drawings are always plain, forthright. There is no 'allegory," no "metaphor," no "irony" about them. Either you are interested in his drawings or you are not. You don't need to translate them; you just need to read them. Everything belongs to the world of the drawing, to the imagination. And, as the imagination, these drawings procure and negotiate a world full of wild lips and jarring discontinuities, of desires and repulsions, of fears and humor; a world ready and anticipating, primed for the image in time, for animation.
Whether drawn from his fantasy or from the singularity and trivia of the quotidian, all these drawings, are enthralling fictions, full of inscrutable imagery, random nonsense, and profundities that may or may not hold up in the light of day, as in our dreams. Always capturing the juxtapositions of the incidental and the ludicrous that characterize dream life, Fernando Renes ruminates those crazy incidents that seem so vivid in the moment and so fuzzy and blurred, so preposterous and inconsequential later on. And as it happens in dreams, his chaos is organized, his order arbitrary.

Volver | Comentar O.martinelli comenta el 01-03-2006 a las 13:54 Los dibujos de Renes no son habituales: Humor, auto-ironía, buen uso del color y hallazgos formales, así como su dedicación exclusiva al dibujo son raros en el panorama del arte español actual. El libro está muy bien, aunque yo echo en falta más páginas y/o unas pasta duras que evitaran que el libro se combara en la estantería. El título "DIBUJOS CASEROS/HOME MADE DRAWINGS" me parece bien, aunque también podría haber sido "DIBUJOS CUADRADOS" o "PIZZA COLLECTION". Y otra cosa, no estoy seguro de estar de acuerdo con Octavio Zaya en que Fernando Renes reniegue de ser un artista con "preocupaciones políticas". Quizá se podría decir que huya de ser un "artista-político" (no me extraña). Pero sin duda hay mensajes políticos, no demasiado explícitos, en sus dibujos.

K comenta el 18-10-2004 a las 18:04 Pues a mí este libro no me ha convencido mucho. Los dibujos, exceptuando dos o tres que sí que destacan, me han parecido un poco anodinos y sin el suficiente interés como para que los publique una asociación que se hace llamar "Belleza Infinita". Con ese nombre me espero cosas mucho más definitivas. En el resto de los libros sí que me encaja un poco más todo el concepto, especialmente en el de "La cabeza revuelta, el corazón amargo" y "Las lilas de Jeleton".
